The Printing Process
The inks we use also do not contain: PVC, Phthalates, Organic Tin Compounds, AZO, Heavy Metals, PCP, APEO, Poly Chlorinated Biphenyls or Pesticides.
We do use, and have some water based inks although Non-Phthalate inks have a superior longevity compared to pure water based inks which, in our experience will not wear very well over the long run
A common misconception is that water based inks are so much better, but they are not, they use formaldehyde discharge in which the fumes of the discharged garment dyes are basically chemically extracted from the shirt. The words water based, just mean that they can be cleaned up with water, not that they are superior to the environmental impact.
The cleaning process of screens and equipment is often the most offensive, toxic process in a print shop and we are committed to only using ecofriendly not toxic cleaning products and practices.
We draw our supplies (apparel) from companies that buy, sell and use environmentally friendly products and practices and recognize that the future is our responsibility as a community.
Direct to Garment Printing, an economical solution for a multi colored design
Well, we’re happy to enlighten you (if you haven’t already heard the scoop) that there is a relatively new technology called Direct to Garment (DTG) printing, which allows custom printing directly onto a flat garment. DTG is a great alternative to screen printing when multiple colors are needed in a design and the expense to create multiple screens can be avoided. DTG is a digital printing solution process that offers many practical advantages over traditional alternatives, such as a comparatively larger imprint area with lower ink cost – which means cheaper customized shirts or apparel! And best of all these printers are almost 100% eco-friendly because they eliminate harmful inks by substituting environmentally friendly water-based inks instead.
With DTG you don’t have to order in bulk to get competitive pricing on your custom-print needs, and you also don’t have to sacrifice quality and durability. Essentially, direct to garment printing allows personalized t-shirts/garments to be produced at a cost effective price for once-off events, or for customers who don’t require a large quantity of garments. You can do all this while imposing less harm on the environment and using our 100% organic cotton and reclaimed material based garments. A brilliant solution to maintain the depth of your design, low cost and a commitment to an ecofriendly printing process.
